40 years ago, a documentary about heart surgeons was released. Perhaps for the first time, in our film, doctors reflected on the price of human life, talked about their emotions caused by the death of a patient, about the shortcomings of our medicine, about the lack of knowledge and responsibilities of doctors. In 40 years, medicine has progressed incredibly, but the moral problems that assailed doctors have remained the same. “It is impossible to get used to death.” – this is the leitmotif of the film, both old and new. One of the main characters of the first film “Heart” by G. E. Falkovsky took part in our documentary. The filming took place at the “Russian Scientific Center of Surgery named after B. I. Petrovsky” (RNTsKh). The film is dedicated to the memory of the authors of the documentary “Heart” made in 1978: Leonid Gurevich and Leo Bakradze.
