Moscow, 1976.
Cosmonaut Nikolai Basov, Hero of the Soviet Union, is trying to overcome the tragedy that has darkened his life. He leads a reclusive life, isolating himself in his apartment. He has difficulty reacting to the world around him and is no longer able to approach life as he did before his accident: the 36 hours he spent in the taiga after a forced landing have left an indelible mark on him.
