Writer Mikhail Prishvin kept his diary for almost 50 years, from 1905 to 1954. It is a unique chronicle of the life of the country, a testimony to the very complicated relations between the state and the man who tried to understand his era.
The film tells about Prishvin's journey on the White Sea Canal and his attempt to write an honest book about this construction site.
