Year 1937. A prison of the NKVD in Leningrad. Someone, unable to bear the torture any longer, signs a confession, but the young poet Maria Batalova writes poems... The frail young woman seemed able to endure physical pain and outrages, but the last straw is perhaps the disappointment in the one who, by the simple fact of his existence, gave her the strength and the will to live, in spite of everything...
