Plot synopsis
Parable film.
Siberia. The revolutionary chaos of the 1920s. Evenings by the river after a day of fishing, discussions about the true faith of a well-off peasant, his wife, their alcoholic farm boy and a priest trained in the new method who has joined them by chance, are interrupted by the arrival of an armed villager determined to take extreme measures. He takes everyone to his bandit's den and locks them in a barn, threatening them with execution. The heroes are petrified and await the unjustified punishment. Each fights for his life, losing everything that differentiates man from animal. Now each must make a choice that no longer depends on the empty words and intentions that were theirs. Only the mute Faith remains calm.
