Plot synopsis

The route followed by Strelbitsky, the driver of tram 39, runs through the center of Moscow from the "University" station through Zamoskvorechye and the boulevard to the "Chistye Prudy" station. These lines depend on the Apakov depot on Shabalovka Street, the oldest depot in the city, which drivers say is very inconvenient for parking trams. But now the depot is closed for reconstruction and drivers are being sent elsewhere.
Denis Strelbitsky, 50, has been working as a tram driver since 1996. In the 90s, he remembers, "it was a mess on the route", trams were overtaken on the left! Now trams are more respected.
The Moscow authorities have removed trolleybuses this year, but the city hall has promised to develop tram lines, "repair the tracks, renew the fleet".
