Plot synopsis
A military epic, which sets out one of the versions of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, as well as the role of the Soviet leadership and personally I.V. Stalin in the severe defeats of the summer of 1941, when the armed forces of the USSR on the western border found themselves in a critical situation after a surprise attack by Germany on June 22.
The plot centers on the fate of General Chumakov, as one of those Soviet commanders who, despite everything, led desperate resistance to German aggression on the battlefield. In addition to Chumakov, the film shows the tragic fate of General D.G. Pavlov, commander of the Western Front (Belarusian Special Military District), where the main action of the film takes place...
