The action of the film takes place at the time of the blockade of Leningrad. For propaganda purposes, State Security officials prepare Vera to perform a heroic feat that will certainly result in her death. But it turns out that Vera is pregnant and her twin sister Nika performs the feat instead of her. Her sacrifice will be in vain: Vera is arrested and the child will not have the chance to be born. The film was made in the year of the fiftieth anniversary of the Victory of 1945, but was not completed.
