Plot synopsis

Kirov (Kostrikov) Sergei Mironovich (15(27). 03.1886 — 01.12.1934), party member since 1904, member of the Central Committee since 1923 (candidate since 1921), member of the Politburo of the Central Committee since 13.07.30 (candidate since 23.07.26), member of the Orgburo and secretary of the Central Committee since 10.02.34. Born in Urzhum, Vyatka province (Kirov region). Russian. In 1904 he graduated from the Kazan Mechanical and Technical School. In 1917, a member of the Vladikavkaz Soviet, he took part in the October armed uprising in Petrograd, then in the struggle for Soviet power in the North Caucasus. From 1919, in military-political work in the Red Army. In 1920, the plenipotentiary representative of the RSFSR in Georgia, a member of the Caucasian Bureau of the Central Committee of the RCP(b). In 1921-] 926, the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Azerbaijan. From 1926, the first secretary of the Leningrad Provincial Committee (Regional Committee) and City Party Committee and the North-West Bureau of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks), and simultaneously in 1934, the secretary of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks). Member of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee and the Central Executive Committee of the USSR.
He was killed on December 1, 1934 in Leningrad in Smolny as a result of an assassination attempt. He was buried on Red Square in Moscow.
