Svetka grew up in the village but moved to Moscow. While spending summer weekends with her parents, she meets her high school sweetheart, tractor driver Sashka, and her forgotten feelings for him rekindle. Sashka reciprocates her feelings but can't break up with the milkmaid Masha. A few days later, Svetka's suitor, Serge, arrives. Her plan to take his beloved to Moscow falls apart when saleswoman Lyuba gets involved in their complicated love affair.
