A satirical animated feuilleton reminding us of the need to conserve electricity—especially during wartime. Filmed at the Soyuzmultfilm studio in 1943.
Actor Osip Abdulov tells the story of a certain Maryivanna, who is completely oblivious to energy conservation: after leaving work, she leaves the light on her desk; while walking down the street, she ignores posters calling for people not to waste electricity; When he gets home, he plugs in every possible appliance—from a gramophone to a hairdryer. To bring a selfish woman to her senses, who doesn't consider that all the energy should be going to military factories, he has to turn off the lights in the entire house. For added clarity, the factory mechanism, the apartment meter, and even the tiny lightbulb in the cartoon are transformed into living creatures who tirelessly toil for the good of the Motherland.
"One of Many" is a propaganda video from the Great Patriotic War, commissioned by Mosenergo, but in the form of an animated film poster.
