Plot synopsis
The film was made in 1945 with the participation of the headquarters and political directorate of the Commander-in-Chief of Soviet troops in the Far East. The film uses Japanese newsreels.

From August 9 to September 2, in accordance with the obligations assumed by the USSR at the Yalta Conference, a military campaign of the Armed Forces of the Union against militaristic Japan was conducted. Troops from the Transbaikal, 1st and 2nd Far Eastern Fronts, the Pacific Fleet, and the Amur Military Flotilla participated in the offensive. On September 2, 1945, the act of unconditional surrender of Japan to the Allied Powers (the United States, China, Great Britain, and the USSR) was signed. World War II ended.
The film was shot by cameramen from the Transbaikal, 1st and 2nd Far Eastern Fronts, and the Pacific Fleet.
In 1985, a new version of the film was released by the Central Documentary Film Studio.
