Plot synopsis
Based on a play of the same name by Vladimir BILL-BIELOTSERKOVSKIÎ. The action of the film takes place in the winter of 1918 in a district town in Russia. In this town, hunger and cold reign. There is no more bread and the production of wood and medicines has stopped. The District Council is unable to guarantee the population the minimum. A detachment responsible for supplies, sent to the countryside, is annihilated by the kulaks. Discontent, fueled by the leaders - former officers of the Tsar who are preparing a counter-revolutionary uprising, matures in the Red Army regiment stationed in the town. In such a complicated situation, the representative of the Council, Bourmin (Vsevolod Safonov), Commissars Raievich and Lachilin supported by the active cadres of the Komsomols were able to reverse the situation.
The conspirators were arrested and the demonstration of the kulaks crushed. The regiment, having gained the confidence of the Soviet Power, was sent to lead the fight against the troops of General Kolchak.
