Plot synopsis
The action takes place during the early years of Soviet power. The teenager Gavriil from the Raskolnik community leaves his monastery to come to the city. Dazzled by the new life, he returns to his community to tell his young friends what he has seen. A quarrel ensues in the monastery between the young and the old. And the life of the leader of the militia who accompanies Gavriil is put in danger. The danger averted, the young people will leave the monastery for good.
