This film illustrates a particular aspect of the history of the Russian Revolution. Anastasia Chirinsky, née Manstein, is the daughter of a Russian naval officer. She was born in 1912 on the large family estate in Russia where she spent her early childhood and during the Civil War, she witnessed the evacuation of Crimea. Her father, Alexandre Manstein, was the commander of the torpedo boat "Jarky" and was part of the Russian squadron that came to Bizerte in 1920-1921. Thus, at the age of 7, in 1920, she landed with her family in Tunisia where she has remained ever since. At 95, she is one of the last survivors of the Russian emigration from the time of the revolution. This documentary, based on period documents, tells her life, and through her, that of a whole generation of Russian emigrants who thought they would only leave their country for a short time and never returned.
