In early 1942, the Germans parachuted a spy into the USSR. The operation went wrong and the spy was captured by the NKVD. During an escape attempt, the spy died. However, he was a Russian, a repeat offender living in occupied territory. To dismantle the spy network, the KGB tracked down the spy's twin brother, a village schoolteacher. The latter replaced his twin in the German network and thus entered the deadly dangerous role of the spy.
