Soviet film director born February 5, 1919, in the Saratov region, died March 29, 1962, in Moscow.
In 1943, he graduated from the directing faculty of the VGIK (Moscow State Film Institute) in the class of S. Eisenstein.
He directed his first film, "Path to Glory," in collaboration with Boris Buniev and Mikhail Schweitzer. He subsequently directed a series of other films.
He is buried at the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow.
