Note : Konstantin Seliverstov’s film can hardly be called a screen version of Gogol’s comedy. Neither is it a comedy, strictly speaking. It is an experiment in combining feature and documentary elements. The director uses Gogol’s scenes as a backbone which he covers sincere monologues of common people about the creation, everyday life and demise of the family. Funny, improbable, paradoxical, sad real-life stories about our half-absurd day-to-day living. There is a personal, intimate portion for everyone and it may contain answers to the most painful universal questions. Plot synopsis
Le film est un film expérimental, sorte de synthèse entre un film documentaire et un film de fiction. La pièce de Gogol ne sert que d'ossature au film sur laquelle viennent se greffer des monologues de gens "ordinaires" qui viennent parler des problèmes "ordinaires" de la vie : création et désagrégation d'une famille. Les rares éléments comiques viennent en contrepoint des situations difficiles et ne font peut-être que soulever de nouvelles interrogations...
