St. Petersburg in the time of the White Nights.
Masha is lucky: she has just met the American Tim who is burning with desire to marry a beautiful young Russian girl. While waiting for the high life abroad, Masha sends almost all the money she earns to her parents who live in a remote village. To save money, she returns the expensive wedding dress that Tim gave her to the store and makes herself a completely similar one.
On the last night before the wedding, Masha runs to her appointment with her fiancé but arrives too late, the bridges are closed. She and her fiancé are separated by the river. All night Masha wanders around the city, her wedding dress under her arm and makes the acquaintances of different people and in particular young Ivan whose courtesy arouses her sympathy...
