This film was shot at the same time as the documentary "Les gens de la forêt" and shows the journey of a cinematographic expedition from an urban environment to the depths of the taiga, from a contemporary space to the archaic practices of the Oudihés and the Goldes (now called the Nanaï). An important structural element of the film is the idea of developing natural resources. From the very first images, the director draws a parallel between the cinematographic expedition and a reconnaissance operation in wartime, which is also underlined by the military aspect of the clothing, the weapons, the flag and the term "detachment" used to refer to the expedition.
