Plot synopsis
Three old men, cut off from the outside world and the passage of time, live in an abandoned village. They while away their days drinking tea, smoking tobacco, and observing the deserted landscape. The course of their lives changes when the trio finds a frozen boy in the river who decides to thaw and resurrect before their eyes, granting each of them a miracle. Whether it was a guardian angel or the devil himself, his departure marks the inevitable destruction of the village.

"Memory is in the villages. Our descendants will one day ask who we are, where we come from, and what is truly ours. But they will receive no answer—by that time, we will have completely destroyed our memory and become rootless, great, and lost."
Dmitry Davydov
