A group of members of the Young Communists (Komsomol) arrive in the Kazakh steppes to participate in the fallowness of the barren lands. They see the bureaucracy and the ineptitude surrounding them. Some flee the sovkhoz in search of a more secure income, others simply do not want to work. But a new energetic director arrives – and a new stage begins…
