The film is about the cinema operators who worked on the front during the Great Patriotic War (World War II). There were 258 of them: almost all of them were wounded, one in two seriously, one in five was killed during the shooting. They not only had to face the horrors of war, but they found within themselves the strength to learn to work in the conditions of this atrocious reality. They were able at the cost of their own lives to capture on film and pass on to future generations the heroic exploits of the Soviet people.
