For a long time the movie "The Anniversary of the Revolution" was considered lost. It is presented in the form of a series of chronicles describing the history of the 1917 revolution from the events of February to the beginning of the Civil War and the creation of the first workers' cooperatives. Experts consider this film to be the first in the genre of "montage film" (film made from chronicles). The organizers of the IDFA festival note that "The Anniversary of the Revolution" is probably the first feature-length documentary in the history of cinema.
The film was restored before its screening at the Amsterdam 2018 festival.
