Plot synopsis
Professor Sergei Vladimirovich Pyzhianov, a doctor of biology, has devoted his entire life to the study of birds of Lake Baikal. He has a special love for seagulls, terns and other birds living near the water that nest on very picturesque but inaccessible islands. It is impossible to find the professor at home in the summer: regardless of the presence or absence of funding, he goes to the islands to do the usual work of an ornithologist - counting nesting sites, birds and collecting materials for laboratory analysis. The professor looks to the future with hope and says that he will continue his work with birds and students. Pyzhyanov's example teaches the main thing: to love nature and understand it.
