SLON: Special Purpose Solovetsky Camp.
Autumn 1929. Lina, who belongs to the noble family of Golitsyn, goes to the meeting with her husband, Georgy Osorgin, who is serving a prison sentence in the Special Purpose Solovetsky Camp. Lina does not know that after her departure her husband will be shot.
Ossorguine was sentenced to death after, as a deeply religious person, he administered the last rites to the dying Archimandrite so that he would receive communion before dying. Ossorguine gave his word of honor as a Russian officer to the camp authorities not to tell his wife about the fate that awaited him. Only on this condition was he agreed to be taken out of his cell for a final meeting with Lina.

SLON, an acronym for the Solovetsky Special Prison Camp, recounts the harrowing final days of Georgi Osorgin, a former imperial cavalry officer imprisoned after a failed attempt to rescue and hide Emperor Nicholas II. The story begins with Georgi taking part in a secret operation to smuggle holy gifts to the dying Archimandrite Zverev, enabling him to receive communion before his death. Though the mission succeeds, camp authorities discover the conspiracy, implicating Georgi and the priests who assisted him. As punishment, they are thrown into the camp's most brutal cells.
Meanwhile, Lina, Georgi’s wife, arrives on Solovetsky Island after arranging a long-awaited visit through influential acquaintances. Born of an old noble family, Lina shares a deep bond with Georgi. Over a year earlier, during her last visit to the island, the couple had lived together briefly on a boat, conceiving their second child. Upon her arrival, Lina is unaware of Georgi’s punishment and searches for him, frustrated by his absence. The camp administration, angered by Georgi’s actions, informs him of his impending execution but grants him three days with Lina in exchange for his oath of silence about his fate. Georgi agrees, prioritizing Lina’s happiness over his own anguish.
Reunited at last, Georgi and Lina spend their remaining days together on the island, rekindling their love. Lina, unaware of her husband’s sentence, cherishes their time together, while Georgi carries the heavy burden of his secret. As Lina prepares to leave, the camp’s tension escalates. Other visiting wives are expelled from the island, but Lina remains, and their world takes an unexpected turn.
A story of enduring love and resilience SLON is a powerful meditation on love, faith, and the resilience of the human soul. (https://www.cinequest.org/).
