Vladimir Petrovich Babak is an aircraft designer, aviation general, head of the Sukhoi Attack Aircraft Concern. Or, to put it simply, he is one of the creators of the legendary "Rook", the SU-25 attack aircraft. And he is the only living witness to the long history of the P.O. Sukhoi, where the first "sukhoi" were designed.
Petrovich came to the design bureau when he was 22 years old, not yet having graduated from the aviation institute. This happened in 1959.
The film, against the backdrop of personal fate, unfolds the dramatic story of the famous "sukhoi". Victories and achievements, the dramas of the war in Afghanistan, the catastrophe of 1991, when the concern headed by V.P. Babak lost several of its factories at once, which remained outside the borders of Russia. And, finally, the SVO in Ukraine, where SU-25s are fighting against each other.
