The beginning of the 90s. Maria, the owner of a small video rental store in an abandoned movie theater, loses her son under strange circumstances. In order to figure out what happened and find her son, Maria has to cross the path of crime boss Yegor Bocharov, make friends with fugitive criminal Dmitry Shilin, uncover the secret of the ghost living in the movie theater and find out how he is connected with the mysterious film reel number 8.
For me, the 90s are my youth, full of both dramatic events and new opportunities. And here it is important to find your own cinematic language. In the film "Film Reel No. 8" the noir of the 90s universe receives the intonation of magical realism.
