Plot synopsis
The seventh episode of the documentary series "Historical Chronicles with Nikolai Svanidze" is dedicated to 1907 and Maxim Gorky. That year, the writer published his famous novel "Mother", which was enthusiastically received by revolutionaries and misunderstood by literary critics. The film will tell how Gorky helped the Bolsheviks hold a congress in London in 1907, how his subsequent relationships with politicians, with Lenin, with Stalin developed. Viewers of the film will learn a lot about the writer’s personal life, his relationships with his wife Ekaterina Pavlovna, actress Maria Andreeva, and adventurer Maria Zakrevskaya-Budberg-Benckendorf.
