A documentary about Soviet border troops and, in particular, about the Hero of the Soviet Union Vadim Matrossov. He began his service as a simple border guard and ended up as an army general and commander of the Soviet Union's border troops. Using documentary footage, reenactments, and eyewitness accounts, the strategic operation conducted in Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989 and led by Matrossov is reconstructed. The film features photos and videos from the Central Museum of Border Troops, as well as photos from the personal archives of those who participated in the conflict.
