Twenty years ago, Jacob Brooks, a student from Illinois, converted to Orthodox Christianity in America and took the name Alexander. After beginning to learn Russian, he decided to go to Moscow, where he had a fateful encounter with his future wife. And so began their complicated shared story. A few years ago, Alexander and Svetlana, along with their four sons, found themselves in Toutaev. Why did the family settle in this small town on the Volga? How and on what do they live?
