Once upon a time there lived a doctor named Aibolit. He was kind and treated animals. One day, a fox came to him and complained that a wasp had stung her. The doctor removed a splinter from the fox's eye and put an eye patch on her. Then a dog named Barbos came to the doctor and complained about how he chased a chicken, and it pecked him on the nose. The birds merely laughed at his misfortune, and the doctor took pity on him and bandaged his nose. Soon, a jackal galloped up to the doctor on a mare and delivered him a telegram from a hippopotamus. The doctor read the telegram and rushed off to Africa to save the animals. First, he ran through the forest, and wolves helped him reach the sea. Then a whale helped him reach a cliff. And an eagle lifted the doctor onto its back and flew over Africa, through which the Limpopo River flows. Soon, the doctor had cured the animals, and everyone was overjoyed. The doctor flew home on the eagle, and the animals waved goodbye.
