The theme of this film is inspired by the popular romance of those years "You sit by the fireplace and watch with longing as the fires in the fireplace burn out ...", the plot is partially borrowed from the story by Alexander Druzhinin "Polinka Saks", written in the 1840s.
The incredible success with audiences of that time prompted the director to make a sequel - "Forget about the fireplace ...".
The film has not survived.
