On the struggle for a healthier life of workers. The driver of the Tiflis tram deposit, Saba, succumbing to the pressure of his drinking friends, spends his pay of the month in a tavern. Arrived at his home, Saba beats his wife and son. The next day, he was sent back from his work for drunkenness. After his dismissal, Saba becomes an inveterate drunk. Maro, his wife, leaves him. But she likes Saba and regrets what happened. His son, Vakhtang, seeing how much his mother suffers, decides to find his father and bring him home. Meanwhile, Saba, who regrets his work before he loved, steals a brake key to one of the drivers and takes out a tram from the deposit. Vakhtang, who was crossing the street at that time, is overthrown by the wagon. A trial for the example is educated against Saba. At the trial, a representative of the deposit workers requests the closure of the taverns in the factory district. For Saba, life seems to be over ... But the love of his relatives and the support of his comrades help him return to the ranks of the builders of socialism. At the end of the film, we see Saba back to work. A demonstration of pioneers misses its tram. Vakhtang is at the top of the procession: he wears a banner with the inscription "Dad, do not drink wine!"
