In a village in modern Russia, there is almost no work, and yet the desire to live is very much there. Sasha and Marina are raising three children in their small, rickety house with no running water. In the village shop, they buy cheap goods, bread, ketchup and mayonnaise, on credit. Sasha goes around to his neighbors to earn a few kopecks and repair computers, while Marina keeps her housework very frugally, even by village standards. On television, the prime minister literally promises: "We are ready to support everything you undertake," while at children's parties songs are played over and over again according to which for girls there is always "the hope of marrying a prince." Since kindergarten, we have been told that we must love our homeland, and that money, as they say, "does not buy happiness"! And one effect in Sacha and Marina's little house there is happiness, love and hope that everything will eventually work out. All their attention is focused on the joyless life of their lovely daughter Katia. What future awaits this little girl?
