The film, designed by Vladimir Khotinenko, is set in 1948; it is a story about children living in the courtyards of tenement houses, presented as a "film within a film". "Our consciousness hesitates between greatness and humility, and the difficulty of finding a balance between pride and simple human dignity. This is the balance that the film sought. To achieve this, a shortcut was chosen: the courtyards of tenement houses and the people who live there. Those who live here are the same as those who live in the country," says director Vladimir Khotinenko. The film was not completed for financial reasons.
