Plot synopsis

The film is based on authentic documents. It is dedicated to Arthur Stradinski, who wrote this “diary” and shared the fate of 15,425 citizens of the Republic of Latvia arbitrarily imprisoned between June 14 and 21, 1941, one of the millions of people of various nationalities and citizenships humiliated and annihilated by the Soviet Gulag. In 1942, Latvian Arthur Stradinski was arrested as an “enemy of the people” and sent to a labor camp in the Vyatka region. He did not smoke, but since he was registered as a “smoker,” he received a ration of tobacco and cigarette paper. He exchanged his tobacco for food and used the paper to keep a diary. According to historians, this diary has a colossal authentic force. Russia has practically no such documents. And there are few of them in the world.
