The film is about the famous Russian romance singer Valery Agafonov (1941-1984). With an exceptional voice, he began singing romances at a time when the genre was falling out of fashion. By the early 1980s, his repertoire included about 700 songs. Not appreciated by the official structures of the culture of the time, he enjoyed enthusiastic support from the public.
