Plot synopsis

The happy days of the eighth-graders' first love faded when they learned that Nadya's mother and Seryozha's recently widowed father were going to live together. The adolescent maximalism of the teenagers hurts their parents.
But their ability to self-denial for the sake of their children's happiness helps the latter "see the light" and understand that one happiness is not a hindrance to another.
