Mikhail Kapustin was born and raised in the center of Moscow. He is 20 years old. When the Great Patriotic War began, he immediately went to the front. And now, after being wounded and having been in the hospital, Misha is returning to the front - and is traveling through Moscow. He has a few hours before the train leaves and he wants to visit his home, see once again the apartment where he lived before the war. However, the apartment is already occupied by another family. He will spend the rest of his time with them - a wonderful old man and his granddaughter, twelve-year-old Nina, who will fall in love with Misha and will wait for his return...
