American reporter Charlie Davis and doctor Victor Davis arrive at the Afghan border to interview Russian prisoners of war. They suddenly find themselves caught in the middle of a revolt where chaos reigns and it is difficult to distinguish friend from foe. The prisoners make a desperate attempt to escape. But it turns out that the Soviet army command does not recognize them as prisoners and when they ask for help by radio they only attract criticism and sacrifice themselves so that the terrorist camp is destroyed, while Doctor Davis takes care of the wounded and Palmer, the correspondent, photographs the scenes of heroism, betrayal and revolt.
